Wen Terms of Service
Last updated: 2026-08-05
These terms cover subscriptions and credit purchases inside the Wen (闻文) iOS app. Please read them before buying — especially the auto-renewal and credit expiry sections.
Subscriptions & auto-renewal
- Standard and Premium memberships are auto-renewing subscriptions. Payment is charged to your Apple ID account when you confirm the purchase.
- Unless you turn off auto-renewal at least 24 hours before the end of the current period, the subscription renews automatically within 24 hours before it expires and your Apple ID account is charged for another period at the then-current price.
- Subscriptions are managed by Apple. We cannot turn one on or off for you.
How to cancel
On iOS, open Settings → tap your Apple ID at the top → Subscriptions → Wen → Cancel Subscription.
Cancelling keeps the period you already paid for. The subscription stays active until the end of the current billing period, that period's credits remain usable throughout, and we never claw them back early. After it ends there are no further charges and no new credits.
Products & pricing
- Standard membership — $5.99 / month: 100,000 credits per month.
- Premium membership — $9.99 / month: 200,000 credits per month.
- Credit top-up pack — $4.99: a one-time 60,000 credits that never expire. Buy it as often as you like, with or without a subscription.
Prices are in USD. The amount and currency actually charged are whatever the App Store shows for your region, including local taxes.
How long credits last
- Subscription credits are good for their own period only and do not roll over. Whatever is left when the billing period ends is forfeited — it does not carry forward and is not reissued. A fresh full allowance is granted at the start of the next period.
- Top-up credits never expire. One-time credits have no time limit and are not affected when a subscription ends.
- Promotional or sign-up credits, where offered, also carry an expiry — whatever was stated when they were granted.
- We spend expiring credits first: promotional and current-period subscription credits are consumed before any top-up credits, so your permanent balance is the last thing to be used.
What credits are
- Credits are the usage unit for cloud AI narration, deducted by the number of characters actually narrated: 1.5 credits per Chinese character in Theatrical mode and 1.0 in Clean mode, with Latin characters counted at half those rates (0.75 and 0.5). The rates shown in the app are authoritative.
- Credits do not unlock features. They are usage, nothing else. Every feature of the app, and free on-device narration, work exactly the same with no subscription and a zero balance.
- When credits run out, narration falls back to the free on-device voice — your reading is never interrupted, and you are never auto-charged.
Refunds
In-app purchases are sold by Apple, so refunds are handled by Apple, not by us — we have no ability to issue one. Request a refund at reportaproblem.apple.com, or on iOS via Settings → Apple ID → Media & Purchases → Account → Purchase History. Whether a refund is granted is Apple's decision under Apple's policies.
Deleting your account
You can delete your account at any time. When you do, any unused credits — including permanent top-up credits — are forfeited and are not refunded or converted to cash. If you still hold an active subscription, cancel it with Apple first as described above, or it will keep renewing.
Acceptable use
- The app neither provides nor hosts any book content. You may only import text you already lawfully own, and you are responsible for what you import.
- Credits may not be resold, and the narration service may not be resold or run in bulk on behalf of third parties.
Changes to these terms
We'll notify you in-app of any material change to these terms. Credits already sold will not be retroactively reduced by an update.
